Welcome to the Beginning of Your Wing Chun Journey

Starting at ground zero is the Beginner’s Course, also referred to as Level 1 of your training. In this course, we provide a broad overview of some of the concepts within our Red Boat Wing Chun system.

Course Structure and Requirements

  • This course is not graded because it focuses on building your foundation skills—the essential techniques, concepts, and principles that you will use throughout your Wing Chun journey. Think of it as the groundwork upon which all your future training will be built.
  • The course is designed to familiarize you with the “mat language” we use, start learning concepts that are important, feel a sense of achievement yet also feel challenged.

Training with Precision

  • Precision is a cornerstone of our training philosophy. As you practice:
  • Train with a sense of purpose and specifity. Focus on quality over quantity. Don’t throw 1,000 average front kicks—throw 100 perfect ones!
  • Embrace the principle: “Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.” This mindset will ensure deliberate, effective training as you build your skills.

Curriculum and Support Materials

The course materials include:

  1. Curriculum and Coaching Videos:
    • Demonstrate techniques required for grading.
    • Indicate what you should aspire to look like when performing/filming your grading attempt
    • Guide you through techniques step-by-step.
  2. Support Material and Workout Videos:
    • Cover all necessary components for your training journey.

Engage and Ask Questions

We encourage you to ask questions!

  • If you’re unclear about any material, email us at info@redboatkungfu.com.
  • Your questions help not only you but also others, while improving the learning experience for everyone.

Training Without a Partner

For 80% of the material, you can train on your own.

  • Don’t have a training partner yet? No problem—there’s plenty you can accomplish solo!
